Jonathan Pufall is a Sophomore at UW-Madison majoring in Finance, minoring in both Computer Science and Theater, and has ambitions to work in the entertainment business. He works for EcoWash in the North Shore of Chicago Division and held a steady top 5 spot in the sales leaderboards throughout the summer, as well as being a top marketer in the first week of the internship acquiring over 100 leads. With zero customer complaints and flawless production, Jonathan helped expand EcoWash’s business into new territories within the greater Chicago Area.
Here is our brief interview with Jonathan about his experience so far at EcoWash:
What made you choose to work at EcoWash?
The idea of running a business from start to finish really intrigued me. The opportunity to create a division from the ground up in a brand-new territory was something I couldn’t pass up. I plan to start a business venture of my own someday and this internship seemed like the perfect way to start building upon my entrepreneurial skillsets.
What have you enjoyed the most from your internship so far?
I have really enjoyed making a positive difference within the North Shore communities, along with meeting other ambitious college students like myself through this internship program. The process of building a division and executing projects has been very rewarding and has allowed me to gain valuable experience in hiring and managing a team of workers. I have always been a people-oriented person, so I have greatly enjoyed giving other college students work for the summer and helping them grow their skills throughout the season as well as my own.
What skills have you learned from your internship so far?
Not only has this internship greatly strengthened my skills in sales, marketing, customer service, and management, but it has allowed me to develop a mindset of getting out what you put in, meaning that to achieve success, you need to work extremely hard and don’t make excuses for yourself. Whether it was going door to door marketing for hours on end, or creating detailed project proposals for massive commercial complexes, I have developed resilience and sense of self-motivation that I know will help me in all aspects of my life.
What are you looking forward to the most?
I’m most excited to take all the skills and real-world experiences I’ve had through this internship and apply them to future endeavors. I know that my next three years here at UW-Madison will be greatly impacted by this internship, as I’m now much more eager to take on more opportunities like this that give me the chance to gain valuable experiences and enrich the lives of others in the process.
Congratulations Jonathan on being our August Employee of the Month! We are really proud of all the success you've had here.
