Peyton Garcia is a Freshman Finance major at UW-Madison and is the Division Manager for EcoWash Green Bay. Peyton plans to become a Certified Financial Planner once he finishes his degree. He is originally from Austin, Texas, and spends much of his free time cheering on the Longhorns. Within the first week of the internship, Peyton broke the all-time opening weekend lead record with 121 leads. Since then, Peyton has sold over $50,000 in projects through his division.
Here is our brief interview with Peyton about his experience so far at EcoWash:
What made you choose to work at EcoWash?
I chose to work at EcoWash because I really wanted to challenge myself after my freshman year. It is a position where you have so much going on at once and you have to find a way to manage it all at once. You must find time to monitor employees, communicate with clients, and produce the work you have already sold while continuing to source new leads. This internship gives you an excellent experience that will boost your resume, but only if you’re willing to work for it.
What have you enjoyed the most from your internship so far?
I enjoy the fact that it is a very reward-driven position. You truly get out what you put into it. For someone who strives to be a go-getter, you are directly rewarded for your hard work and skills. If you find yourself slacking off one week because of one thing or another, it will show. But I also just love the environment of the company and I’m proud of the work we do.
What skills have you learned from your internship so far?
I have always considered myself an organized person with great time-management skills, but this internship has elevated those to another level. You have so much going on throughout the week, that you don’t have time to miss manage your work. Another that comes to mind is direct management skills, I’m overseeing a division of multiple employees with heavy-duty equipment and need to communicate with hundreds of potential clients. Your people skills certainly have to be up to par with the position.
What are you looking forward to the most?
I’m looking forward to continuing to build connections with the people I work with. I love meeting and talking to new people and this position is a great way to do that. I have loved everyone I’ve worked with, whether it be coworkers or clients. I look forward to enhancing those relationships further.
Congratulations Peyton on being our May Employee of the Month! We are really looking forward to all the successes you’ll have here.
