Jack Zang is a rising junior at Iowa State University. He is double majoring in marketing and analytics, and also planning on getting his sales certification. He works for EcoWash in the McHenry County division. Jack grew up in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and has always had an interest in sales and plans a future in professional B2B sales. After a challenging spring, Jack has been a consistent top 5 performer in the company's total sales every week of the summer and is currently in the #6 spot company-wide for total sales.

Here is our brief interview with Jack about his experience at EcoWash so far:
What made you choose to work at EcoWash?
What made me choose EcoWash was the unique opportunity this job had to offer. My manager and recruiter, Tanner, did an exceptional job during the recruitment process and explained that this isn’t for everyone, but if you’re willing to work harder than you ever have before, you’ll be rewarded. Also, with how the process went, everyone selected had the same goals and opportunities, so being surrounded by people who want to be successful was a nice change.
What have you enjoyed the most from your internship so far?
I would say the part I enjoyed most about this opportunity is the independence. Once you prove you can handle the work laid out, there is no boss micromanaging your every move. The trust and confidence that Andrew and Tanner put into me helped me develop my own ways of problem solving, decision making, and overall growth in the business world. For example, crew member issues and the weather app being right about 2% of the time were things I thought of but never knew how to properly handle. This opportunity has led to a new level of understanding of how to properly manage people and time.
What skills have you learned from your internship so far?
The main skills I learned were time management and people management, how to truly sell your product and yourself to clients, how to market, whether it was D2D or online, and how to make your business stand out from the crowd. There are so many more soft skills, like communication and confidence, that I learned how to develop as well through this job.
What are you looking forward to the most?
I am excited to be at a point where production and the summer are finally wrapping up, and looking forward to having managed 70+ happy customers and swinging this momentum into the upcoming year. Finally, the Wisconsin Dells trip. I mean you can’t go wrong with a fun trip to end the summer.
Congratulations to Jack on being our July Employee of the Month! We are proud of all the success you've had here.
