2 min read

Rob Trebelhorn is an incoming Junior at the University of Minnesota majoring in Supply Chain operations through the Carlson School of Management. Rob has plans to become a traveling sales representative for a company of his choosing. Rob is from the small town of Winthrop MN, and has been working with EcoWash as the West Twin Cities Division Manager this summer. Rob’s drive was apparent from day one where he was third in opening weekend leads throughout the company, and made it a habit to have big sales week after week. Rob just wrapped up his internship with EcoWash with a total of over $85,000 in sales and 45 satisfied clients.

Here is our brief interview with Rob about his experience at EcoWash so far:

What made you choose to work at EcoWash?

I was really looking for a position without limits because I wanted to see how far I could push myself without anyone telling me what to do. I quickly learned the benefits and tradeoffs of such a position, but I’m happy I took the gamble on myself because it definitely paid off.

What have you enjoyed the most from your internship so far?

I think I most enjoyed the freedom of doing work at my own pace. There were times where I would utilize that to work extra hours for weeks at a time, but on the opposite end of the spectrum, I was able to allocate my timing and resources to give myself much needed breaks when I felt overwhelmed or overworked.

What skills have you learned from your internship so far?

I learned so much in the world of management, sales, and operations as a result of this internship, but my most prolific skill that has flourished has to be my interpersonal skills. I have always been a talker, but I was able to apply those skills with each of my clients this summer to work around problems as they arose. Having the confidence to talk to anyone about any topic is such an underrated skill, especially in a field where there need to be uncomfortable conversations about setting reasonable expectations.

What are you looking forward to the most?

I am very excited to see how these skills and this internship as a whole will shape the rest of my career. I did not have a lot of career direction when I began my internship; fun fact: I hadn’t even declared my major, but after experiencing every aspect of how a business runs, I have a much narrower path to follow for the rest of my career.

Congratulations to Rob on being our August Employee of the Month! We are proud of all the success you've had here.
