Racine, Wisconsin, sits on the beautiful waters of Lake Michigan and is just miles away from the beautiful and cultural city of Milwaukee. 1. Wind Point

Wind Point, Wisconsin sits just north of the heart of Racine, and also right outside the Batten International Airport. Wind Point is known for its small size, yet charming look. The town of Wind Point is home to about 1,650 people, It falls on the water and is home to an iconic light house. The Wind Point Lighthouse is one of the tallest and oldest operating lighthouses on Lake Michigan.

Wind Point also holds the Shoop Park Gold Course, Prairie School college, and the Wingspread- a historic landmark designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. While the town itself is rather petite, it is rather close to Racine with many amenities. 

2. Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin is much larger in size than Wind Point, with around 27,000 people. Mount Pleasant is known for its safe neighborhoods and great convenience. It holds many community events and focuses on staying connected. Mount Pleasant prioritizes outdoor recreation, where cycling, hiking, walking, and snowshoeing are common forms of activities. The Pike River Pathway stretches across the city. 

The city of Mount Pleasant is also known for its booming economy and growth of technological projects and data centers. 

Mount Pleasant holds many museums, such as the Racine Heritage Museum and the Firehouse 3 Museum. Just 12 minutes outside of Mount Pleasant is also the Racine Zoo! 

3. Caledonia

Caledonia, Wisconsin sits similar in size to Mount Pleasant, at 25,000 residents. A special part about Caledonia is that it houses the Nicholson Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge is about 130 acres of marshland that also houses many birds and a beautiful trail to walk on. 

As Caledonia focuses on its nature aspects, it is also home to the Bear Paw Beach & Adventure Island, a 5 acre park that features waters and different courses and activities. Root River Parkway is also a beautiful spot to enjoy long walks, runs, or water activities such as kayaking, fishing, swimming, and canoeing. 

4. Union Grove

Union Grove is a smaller suburb, but a little bit larger than Wind Point, Wisconsin. Union Grove is home to about 5,200 residents. It is a perfect small town if that is more your speed! Union Grove houses many locally owned shops, boutiques, and restaurants as well. 

Similar to Mount Pleasant, Union Grove prioritizes recreational activities. 

Some programs include Tai Chi, Intro to Karate, Youth Karate, Adult Karate, Chair Yoga, and Slow Flow with Stretch. Union Grove also hosts seasonal activities such as Soccer, Football, Basketball, and Yoga. All of these programs are inclusive and affordable. 

5. Sturtevant 

Sturtevant, Wisconsin is just larger than Union Grove, at 6,900 people. Sturtervant is conveniently located near the highway of I94.

Sturtevant is known for its family-friendly vibe and safe environment with many families. Like other parts of Racine, the outdoor scene is heavily important in the community Sturtevant is home to seven parks, including a dog park.

Sports and recreation are equally as important, as Sturtevant started the quickly growing SYBA (Sturtevant Youth Baseball Association).
